Colette Wilkins KC was appointed to the JLSC in accordance with section 105(1)(e).
Colette Wilkins KC was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1989 where she practiced as a barrister at the Chancery Bar from Lincolns Inn until 2005. Colette was admitted as an attorney in the Cayman Islands Bar in 2005, and admitted as a barrister in the British Virgin Islands in 2011. She practised as a Cayman Islands attorney from 2005 until her retirement from Walkers in 2024, specializing in high value financial services litigation, asset recovery and contentious insolvency. During her career as a Cayman Islands attorney Colette was recognized as an eminent practitioner in all major independent legal directories. She was elevated to the rank of Queens Counsel (now Kings Counsel) in 2021.
During her time in the Cayman Islands Colette has been a school governor, a member of two Freedom of Information sub-committees dealing with the implementation of the Freedom of information legislation, and she co-founded the Cayman Islands chapter of IWIRC to advance the professional development of women working in the insolvency and restructuring profession. Colette was a member of the Cayman Islands Law Society Executive Committee charged with submitting views on the law relating to directors’ duties, and a member of the Cayman Islands Grand Court Rules Committee and the Insolvency Rules Committee from 2019 to 2024.
Colette was a long-serving member of the Walkers’ Trainee Committee and is proud to have helped the Committee promote greater socio-economic diversity in the legal profession.
She was appointed as a member of the JLSC on 1 January 2025 for a five year term.
